New Zealand National Anthem and Traditional Haka

Hey everyone.  So I finally got to hear the New Zealand National Anthem.  It can be sung in either Maori (pronounced Maow-re) the native language, or in English.  P.S. The video here shows a traditional Maori women singing the Maori version of the national anthem.  Yes…you might say it looks like she has a beard, but it’s actually a tattoo that some Maori women get done on their chins.  I’m not sure yet as to what it means or symbolized, but I should find out soon.  Also, its common in New Zealand for sports teams especially to sometimes do a Haka.  A Haka is basically a chant involving aggressive vocal and facial expressions meant to be done before entering into battle to scare off the opponent (which is why they do it before their rugby matches).  Here’s another video clip from YouTube showing the All Black’s Haka (The All Black’s are New Zealand’s National Rugby Team).  P.S. We are holding the 2011 Rugby World Cup here.  It’s going to be a zoo.  Anybody want to come visit for the World Cup????

Anyways, hope you all enjoy.

Talk to you all again soon.
